Porcelain Veneers

One of the quickest and easiest ways to have a smile makeover is to be fitted with porcelain veneers. Natural in appearance, strong and long-lasting, porcelain veneers are a popular choice for people who want to improve the look and function of their teeth. If you have healthy teeth and gums but are unhappy with the way your smile looks, with porcelain veneers you can have a beautiful new smile in just two visits.

Porcelain veneers are thin layers of porcelain fitted over the front teeth. They are similar in concept to false fingernails, and can be used to treat a variety of cosmetic dental problems including:

  • Teeth that are permanently stained and cannot be whitened
  • Small gaps between the front teeth
  • Slightly crooked teeth, when braces are not the best option
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Worn or eroded teeth
  • Poorly shaped teeth
  • Dull smile

Porcelain veneers produce a beautiful, natural-looking white smile and are a minimally invasive and quick treatment. Our dentists Patrick Rea and Janice Brown are highly experienced in fitting veneers and attend regular aesthetic dentistry courses. They are two of Northern Ireland's most prominent cosmetic dentists.

Sandown Dental & Implant Clinic has a long-standing relationship with high-end laboratories where your veneers will be manufactured. We pride ourselves on using the best materials and latest technologies.

Porcelain Veneers

At your first appointment, your dentist will take impressions of your existing teeth using special dental putty. We will also talk through the results you want to achieve, and will take into account such factors as your facial appearance, skin tone, lips and gum tissue. Your dentist will select a shade of porcelain that's very close to the colour of your natural teeth.

The impressions will be sent to our laboratory for your veneers to be made. Once your veneers are ready, you will have your second appointment, and they will be precisely fitted over your existing teeth using a strong, glue-like bonding material.
